Ruggedized file servers are
designed and manufactured for Rockwell Collins Air Transport (RCAT)
and Passenger Systems (RCPS). They are disk-based servers that operate
reliably in an avionics environment.
The ruggedized file servers feature proprietary disk protection (EPOD)
technology that combines software, hardware and mechanical packaging
to protect disk drives from the harsh environment found on aircraft.
The servers include a scalable open architecture that includes a
mobile Pentium III processor, memory, I/O, power supply, battery
back-up and fan modules.

The
Video-on-Demand (VOD) Server is designed and manufactured for Rockwell
Collins Passenger Systems (RCPS). It provides audio and video on
demand to an in-flight entertainment system on wide-body aircraft. VOD
is a ruggedized disk-based file server that employs MPEG-2 data
compression and multiplexing of video and audio. The data is output as
6 MHz video, upconverted to 44 MHz IF and QAM-64 modulated. The VOD
server can produce 45 simultaneous video and audio streams
simultaneously. The VOD server employs proprietary disk protection (EPOD)
technology, and is fully compliant with DO-160D environmental and
electrical standards for in-flight operations.
