The Ethernet Gateway Unit (EGU) is designed and manufactured for Rockwell Collins. It provides Ethernet switching and firewall functionality for Airbus aircraft.

The EGU includes a scalable open architecture with a PowerPC processor, memory, I/O, power supply, battery back-up and fan modules. Switching is implemented with a Broadcom Strataswitch. The Network Operating System is WindRiver's Tornado for Managed Switches (TMS) and the Firewall is Intoto's eFirewall.
