MOORESTOWN, NJ, USA (March 13, 2007)… Formation, Inc. announced today that it has received an order from SELEX Sistemi Integrati to provide Advanced Integrated Recorder (AIR) systems for seven Air Traffic Control centers across Turkey. The recorders will be used in Turkey’s “Systematic Modernization of ATM Resources in Turkey” (SMART) program, which involves one system in Ankara capable of monitoring the country’s entire air space, plus six air traffic control centers in Istanbul, Izmir, Antalya, Dalaman, Ercan and Bodrum airports. AIR will record up to 250 channels of voice communications in each center, and will synchronize with SELEX’s data replay capability to provide a seamless re-creation of any air traffic events.

“This application requires the ability to immediately replay information recorded at any time during the most recent 90-day period,” notes Formation’s product director, Cliff Oberholtzer. “AIR easily meets this requirement by utilizing the best of commercial off-the-shelf computer equipment, offering up to eight Terabytes of internal hard disk storage. The end result is a highly-integrated recording solution, common to all seven sites, that minimizes rack space requirements and provides greater than 99.99% reliability.”

The AIR system is used in air traffic, air defense, and command and control centers worldwide to record, store, and replay workstation screen activity, radar, LAN, and voice data in a single time-tagged, and synchronized system. AIR is scaleable, expandable, and provides any size facility the ability to re-create critical events, eliminate manual data correlation, and reduce liability risk. Configurations range from a stand-alone 1U (1.75 inch) server with as few as four voice channels, to a networked storage system supporting over 1000 screen, data and voice channels.
