System enables users to recreate critical events, eliminate
time-consuming correlation of data and improve air defense training

MOORESTOWN, NEW JERSEY, USA, (May 15, 2003)—Formation, Inc., has delivered the first of its Advanced Integrated Recorder (AIR) systems to Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems Sector, for use in various air defense system applications. Northrop Grumman awarded Formation a $1 million contract in April 2003 for the Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) AIR systems.

The revolutionary AIR O₂ Record and Replay System records, archives, and replays a variety of information streams (including workstation screen activity, radar, LAN and voice data) using a single time-tagged, catalogued and synchronized archive. The system is scaleable and expandable from a single server with as few as 12 voice channels, to a networked multi-server storage system capable of supporting over 1000 screen, data and voice channels located in geographically distributed areas.

Northrop Grumman has chosen both internally redundant and non-redundant AIR O₂ systems based on modern 2U (3.5 inch high) rack-mount servers. The systems also incorporate a unique serial control interface allowing external synchronization with the existing air defense system’s own recording functions.
